Reconstruction and Development of Afghanistan

The Second Regional Economic Cooperation Conference on Afghanistan was held in New Delhi on 18-19th November 2006.
The conference reviewed the implementation of the December 2005 Kabul Declaration on Regional Economic Cooperation. Participants explored ways to strengthen cooperation in the areas of electricity, transport, trade, investment and agriculture, while promoting capacity building and focusing on regional projects.

Guidance for Correspondents

17th Council of Minister’s Meeting of

Herat, Afghanistan

Visa:
Afghanistan’s Embassies abroad issue visa for correspondents. Correspondents must carry his/her corresponding documents, as well as the form of application for visa.

Flights:
Ariana, Kam Air, and Pamir Airlines have flights to Kabul from India, Dubai, Islamabad, Turkey, and Azerbaijan.

Accommodations:
Istighlal Hotel, near to Office of Government of Herat Province, has been allocated for correspondents. The correspondents can stay in other hotels and guesthouses, as well.
The aforementioned hotel has internet access and other necessary facilities. In addition to this successful hotel, the other hotel can be used, if necessary.

Issuing of Correspondents’ ID card:
The correspondents who want to receive the ID card should contact with Mr. Khavari (0700281976) in the Guesthouse of Ministry of Foreign Affairs. A special ID cards have been designed for correspondents that have a security symbol. The correspondents must carry this card while covering news.

Place of Conference:
The Place of Conference has been facilitated with “Press Room” in which the conference can be broadcasted live. In addition, there are other facilities such as Internet, Telephone, etc.

Transportation:
A bus has been allocated by which, the correspondents can go to the place of conference from Istighlal Hotel in the morning, and can go back in the afternoon.

Refreshments:
The correspondents must pay for refreshment costs themselves.

Press Conferences:
The information about press conferences is issued to correspondents, daily. In addition, in the closing date, a press conference has been arranged. The correspondent may to interview with the participants of the conference, out of the hall. The members of staff of Ministry of Foreign Affairs will provide necessary facilities to correspondents.
