Islamabad - Deputy Foreign Minister Hekmat Khalil Karzai met with Pakistan Tehreek Insaf Chairman Mr. Imran Khan in Islamabad this afternoon.

The two sides held discussions on a range of issues pertaining Afghanistan-Pakistan relations.

Deputy Foreign Minister Karzai said that the 'Afghanistan-Pakistan Action Plan for Peace and Solidarity (APAPPS)' finalized in a positive spirit aims to enhance trust and confidence between the two countries. He emphasized that trade and economic ties should be depoliticized for the welfare of the peoples of both countries.

Deputy Foreign Minister Karzai also thanked the people of Pakistan for the generous hospitality extended to the Afghan refugees. He added that the dignified, voluntary and gradual return of the Afghan refugees was the Afghan Government's top priority.

Deputy Foreign Minister Karzai further said: “Both countries enjoy numerous commonalities. Cricket is an emerging and popular game in Afghanistan, while also popular in Pakistan. Through cricket, both nations can come together making tangible progress in building more confidence.”

PTI Chairman Imran Khan welcomed Deputy Foreign Minister Karzai to Pakistan and said that given his Afghanistan roots, cordial relations with Afghanistan would remain his top priority if he wins the next elections and becomes Prime Minister.
