Ministry of Foreign Affairs Convened RECCA Ambassadors First Coordination Meeting

KABUL – The 1st Coordination Meeting of RECCA Ambassadors which was hosted by Directorate General of Economic Cooperation convened this afternoon in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Cooperation Ms. Adela Raz and attended by Deputy Ministers of Mines and Petroleum, Water & Energy, Head of the Chamber of Commerce, Representatives of the relevant agencies, Ambassadors of the RECCA, Directors of the different Departments of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the representatives of other supporting countries located in Kabul.

At the outset, Ms. Raz welcomed the guests and thanked for the active role of the participating countries in the previous RECCA’s meeting. Deputy Foreign Minister Ms. Raz talked on the progresses made in the Macro-economic projects such as TAPI, KASA 1000 and Chabahar. She added that these projects not only have economic benefits for Afghanistan but also important for the countries of the region. She also hinted to the progress and multidimensional significance of these projects, and the new initiatives in the framework of RECCA. The Deputy Foreign Minister deemed the establishment of the Chamber of Commerce in the framework of RECCA, The establishment of the RECCA Research and Evaluation Institute and women empowerment as new initiatives in the previous RECCA’s meeting.

Afterward, the Director General of Economic Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mr. Hassan Sorosh talked on the key elements and initiatives in the framework of REECA 2017, held in Ashgabat. Mr. Sorosh said that TAPI, KASA 1000, TAP 500, establishing transportation networks, creating transit facilities, communications, supporting merchant to merchant relations and the establishment of the RECCA Research and evaluation institute was the important topics discussed in the framework of the previous RECCA’s meeting.

Speakers from various government and private sectors talked about the relevant sections in the framework of RECCA.

It is worth noting that the 7th RECCA meeting was held on October 13, 2017 in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.
