Foreign Minister of Afghanistan Meets President of Tajikistan

KABUL – Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan H.E. Salahuddin Rabbani met with the President of the Republic of Tajikistan H.E Emomali Rahmon.

Thanking the government of Tajikistan for the high level participation in RECCA, Istanbul Process and Tashkent conference, Mr. Rabbani appreciated the enthusiasm of Tajikistan toward peace and stability in Afghanistan and considered Tajikistan an important country in the region.

The President of Tajikistan deemed counter-terrorism and counter-narcotics important, not only for Afghanistan but for Tajikistan, the region and the whole world. He asked for further regional cooperation and global consensus in this regard.

The Foreign Minister talked on enhancing cultural and educational cooperation between the two countries, asked the President of Tajikistan to provide Master and PhD Scholarships for Afghanistan universities.

Both sides also discussed the political, economic, security and cultural cooperation, bilateral relations and regional consensus.
