KABUL - Minister of Foreign Affairs H.E. Salahuddin Rabbani met this afternoon with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Ms. Fathiaa Abdalla in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
While appreciating the cooperation and activities of UNHCR in Afghanistan in the area of refugees, returnees and IDPs, Mr. Rabbani said, “Given that Afghanistan has the highest number of refugees and IDPs, continued cooperation of the UN agencies in Afghanistan, particularly UNHCR is very critical and imperative for refugees.”
Afterward, Ms. Fathiaa presented her credential to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and pointed out to her previous experiences in the area of immigration, as well as emphasized that during her mission in Afghanistan she will put a lot of efforts to attract more assistance for refugees, returnees and IDPs.
In the meeting, both sides exchanged views on the recent activities of UNHCR and coordination between this organization and the relevant Afghan government bodies, particularly the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
