Today UNAMA head Ms Deborah Lyons called on IEA Acting FM Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi.

The meeting focused on humanitarian aid, human rights, development projects, banking sector, economic growth & other issues.

Ms Lyons remarked on her positive report on Afghanistan in the last UNSC session, reflecting progress and achievements of the new government.

Minister Muttaqi said expectation is that one-year extension of UNAMA mandate will have positive results for Afghanistan & that it should also take effective steps in political sphere beyond humanitarian aid to safeguard fundamental rights of all Afghans by recognition of the government & lifting individual & economic sanctions.

Minister Muttaqi said the absence of Afghanistan’s representative in the UN tantamounts to breach of rights of Afghans at home & abroad.In the meeting, it was agreed to continue interaction & engagement to resolve the said matters.
