Sixth Trilateral Foreign Ministers’ Dialogue between Afghanistan, China & Pakistan Held in Kabul

Today, the Sixth Trilateral Dialogue of the Foreign Ministers of Afghanistan, China, & Pakistan convened in Kabul.
The meeting reviewed the outcomes of previous sessions & focused on strengthening cooperation in political, economic, & transit sectors.

Highlighting the emerging opportunities for regional cooperation, IEA-Foreign Ministers, Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi expressed confidence that the three countries could utilize these opportunities for the benefit of their peoples. Additionally, he said that the trilateral mechanism provides a platform for practical & result-oriented discussions to further expand cooperation.

FM Muttaqi underlined that since the establishment of the Islamic Emirate, Afghanistan has pursued an economy-centered foreign policy aimed at transforming the country from the narrative of security challenges into a crossroad of regional connectivity as the new ground realities also help the success of this policy.

FM Muttaqi noted that progress achieved in trade, investment, & regional projects over the past four years reflects this commitment. Further, he stressed that the three countries have vast economic potential that should be harnessed properly, & economic issues should not be linked with other matters.
Welcoming the elevation of diplomatic representation between Afghanistan & Pakistan to the ambassadorial level as a positive development, Mr. Wang Yi, the Member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China & Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, described Afghanistan–China relations as steadily advancing & noted that cooperation has broadened in multiple fields.

Mr. Ishaq Dar, Deputy Prime Minister & Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, regarded the trilateral dialogue as an important opportunity to enhance cooperation among the three countries, praising the growing cooperation between Afghanistan & Pakistan & expressed hope for further progress in bilateral relations.

To conclude, the three Foreign Ministers reaffirmed their commitment to continue such dialogues & to further strengthen trilateral cooper
