During the meeting, both sides held a comprehensive discussion on the strengthening of political relations, the expansion of economic cooperation & the exchange of views on regional developments.
Expressing appreciation to the Russian Federation for its decision to formally recognize the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, FM Muttaqi described it as a significant & historic milestone in the advancement of bilateral relations. FM Muttaqi noted that this recognition not only opens new avenues for political & economic cooperation but also represents an important step toward Afghanistan’s constructive engagement within the international community.
FM Muttaqi further underscored the importance of enhanced cooperation in combating narcotics, promoting regional economic initiatives & developing transport corridors.
FM Sergey Lavrov stated that the recognition of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has created unprecedented opportunities for political, economic & international cooperation between the two countries, expressing confidence that the coming period will yield tangible positive outcomes.
He also commended the Islamic Emirate’s efforts in countering drug trafficking, strengthening security & advancing stability, emphasizing that, alongside the consolidation of bilateral relations, effective utilization of regional mechanisms such as the Moscow Format is of great importance.
Praising the Islamic Emirate’s achievements & its independent stance, Russian Foreign Minister called them beneficial for the stability & prosperity of the wider region.
