UN-SRSG Calls on IEA-Foreign Minister.

The Special Representative of UN-Secretary-General, Ms. Roza Otunbayeva, called on IEA-Foreign Minister, Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi.
At the outset, Ms. Otunbayeva introduced the newly designated Deputy Special Representative (Political) for Afghanistan, Ms. Georgette Gagnon, providing information regarding her extensive career background, including her previous roles in several other countries, notably Afghanistan.
Expressing hope, FM Muttaqi said that Ms. Gagnon’s appointment would further consolidate the political relations between the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan & the United Nations, & offered assurances of all necessary cooperation thereon.
Also, the meeting centred on various UN operational aspects in Afghanistan.
In the end, the two sides exchanged views on the multiple UN-led conferences on Afghanistan.
