Indian Special Representative for Afghanistan, Mr. J.P. Singh, called on IEA-Foreign Minister, Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi.
During meeting, views were exchanged regarding focusing on strengthening political & economic relations between Afghanistan & India, as well as facilitating people-to-people movement of the two countries.
Expressing hope for progress in Afghan-Indian relations, FM Muttaqi underscored the need for improved facilitation in the issuance of Indian visas to Afghans particularly for businessmen to promote further trade relations.
Appreciating India’s humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan, FM Muttaqi acknowledged India’s commitments in development sector, calling them encouraging.
Calling India’s relations with Afghanistan invaluable & noting the longstanding historical connection between the two countries, Mr. J.P. Singh stated that, in addition to humanitarian aid, India has initiated development assistance & is currently engaged in technical discussions with concerned Afghan authorities.
Stressing on the importance of deepening bilateral relations, Mr. J.P. Singh said that in the near future, technical delegations from the region, including Afghanistan & India, would convene to discuss operational frameworks for the Chabahar Port, additionally, he showed his commitment to further facilitate the visa process for Afghans.
