The United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Representative & head of UNAMA in Afghanistan, Ms. Roza Otunbayeva, called on IEA-Foreign Minister, Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi.
The meeting focused on Afghanistan’s economic growth, humanitarian & developmental assistance, & several other issues.
Highlighting the achievements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in various sectors, particularly in economic stability, FM Muttaqi noted that Afghanistan’s economy, having stabilised, is now progressing towards growth, adding that the recent World Bank report as evidence, which indicated a 2.7% economic growth for this year.
Furthermore, FM Muttaqi mentioned that additional economic development initiatives are currently underway, and upon their completion, Afghanistan will witness rapid economic progress.
The Head of UNAMA said that, for the first time in three years, the volume of developmental aid to Afghanistan has surpassed humanitarian aid, marking a very positive development that will have a positive impact on Afghanistan’s economy. She assured that this positive momentum would continue, commending the Islamic Emirate’s economic efforts & pledging to share these achievements in UN meetings.
