Pakistan’s SPR Sadiq Khan Calls on IEA-Foreign Minister

Mr. Mohammad Sadiq, Pakistan’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, called on IEA-Foreign Minister, Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, within the frame work of the Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) between Afghanistan and Pakistan.

At the outset, providing a detailed overview of the ongoing situation of Afghan refugees in Pakistan and emphasizing the key aspects of bilateral relations between the two countries, FM Muttaqi expressed serious concern regarding the recent forced deportation of Afghan refugees, adding further, FM Muttaqi stressed that both nations should address all issues through dialogue in the spirit of mutual trust, while refraining from actions or rhetoric that could provoke public discontent or emotional responses.

Underscoring the deep-rooted relations between the two neighboring countries, Mr. Sadiq Khan stressed the importance of exploring viable solutions to resolving the challenges at hand. Furthermore, he said that Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Mr. Mohammad Ishaq Dar, is expected to visit Kabul in the near future, expressing hope that the visit would yield positive outcomes for both sides.

In the end, the two sides acknowledged the need of holding such meetings in the future.
