Pakistan’s Special Representative, Mohammad Sadiq Khan, accompanying a delegation called on IEA-Foreign Minister, Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi.
The meeting focused on bilateral relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan, political and economic cooperation, transit, and people-to-people movement between the two countries.
FM Muttaqi stated that obstacles in transit routes and trade are not in anyone’s interest and that issues should not be linked together. Adding further, he also pointed out that Afghan refugees in Pakistan should be repatriated gradually and with dignity rather than being forcibly expelled.
Later, Pakistan’s Special Representative acknowledged that stability in Afghanistan is in the best interests of both Pakistan and the broader region, pledging to take necessary measures to facilitate visa issuance for Afghans and alleviate cross-border movement. Additionally, he affirmed Pakistan’s commitment to implementing practical steps to resolve existing challenges in trade and transit sectors.
In the end, both sides reiterated their commitment to addressing these matters through continued dialogue and regular exchanges of delegations.
