Today UNAMA Head Deborah Lyons called on Acting Foreign Minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi.

The meeting focused on overall Afghan economic & humanitarian condition, positive changes, banking sector, new government’s achievements & humanitarian aid. Ms. Lyons said situation in Afghanistan has improved, dramatic decline in incidents has been observed, conditions are getting better & cooperation with the new government has strengthened.
Minister Muttaqi thanked Ms. Lyons for assessing positive the situation in Afghanistan & the new government based on realities, expressing hope that with implementation of new government plans, the overall situation countrywide would witness positive growth & people’s needs would be addressed.
Minister Muttaqi said since Afghanistan is a landlocked country, our imports level is high, the imposed sanctions harm the people instead of the government, restraining our traders from doing business.
Referring to UNSG remarks expressing concern over increasing threat & reconstitution of subversive groups in Afghanistan, Minister Muttaqi said it was not true, adding Afghans consider such rhetoric concerning, provocative, & direct incitement & campaign for subversive groups.
Minister Muttaqi said the Afghan government will allow none to use the Afghan soil against another. To end, the meeting was assessed positive & effective where Ms. Lyons pledged to share the new government’s achievements, positive changes & ground realities in the upcoming UNSC session with the world.
