IEA-Foreign Minister, Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Sergey Lavrov.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed bilateral relations, economic and trade cooperation, regional issues, and the continuation of political consultations.
Calling for further strengthening of political understanding between Afghanistan and Russia, with greater emphasis on economic, trade, and transit cooperation, FM Muttaqi underscored that Afghanistan attaches importance to expanding long-term cooperation with Russia and stressed the continuation of cooperation in support of regional stability.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stressed the importance of continuing political consultations between Afghanistan and Russia and expressed Russia’s interest in further strengthening economic and trade relations, also commending the Afghan government’s positive measures in combating narcotics and enhancing security.
