The ancient Storai/Stor Palace, located within the compound of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and built in 1901 during the reign of Amir Abdur Rahman Khan on the western side of the Arg Garden, is considered the first office and headquarters of the Ministry.
Before the establishment of the ministry structure, it was initially known as the “Fakhira Administration,” and in 1298 solar Hijri, it was renamed the “Office for the Supervision of Foreign Affairs.”
From 1301 solar Hijri onward, this Palace was designated for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and named as the Ministry, upon which the foundation of its current structure, under the selection of Mahmud Tarzi as the first Minister of Foreign Affairs, is considered to have been laid for the advancement of the country’s foreign policy and diplomacy.
