ICRC-President Calls on IEA-Foreign Ministe

The President of the International Committee of the Red Cross, Mr. Pīr Krahenbūl, called on IEA-Foreign Minister, Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi.

During meeting, acknowledging the existing improved security situation of Afghanistan, Mr. Pīr Krahenbūl provided an overview of the ICRC’s humanitarian operations in Afghanistan, including healthcare services, prosthetic limb production, & other humanitarian ongoing efforts.

Commending the ICRC for its decades-long humanitarian assistance to vulnerable class in Afghanistan, particularly patients & individuals with disabilities, FM Muttaqi described the organization’s support as a source of honor & gratitude for Afghans. Additionally, FM Muttaqi requested the ICRC’s cooperation in clarifying the fate of Afghan prisoners held abroad.

Admitting that access to prisons in certain countries had been restricted, hindering the ICRC’s efforts to locate Afghan detainees & facilitate communication with their families, Mr. Pīr Krahenbūl Maurer affirmed the ICRC’s commitment to intensifying its efforts in this regard.

In the end, he underscored that the ICRC operates independently of external influences & reaffirmed its commitment to continuing humanitarian operations in Afghanistan without interruption.
