Ex U.S. Envoy Calls on Foreign Minister

The former U.S. Special Envoy for Afghanistan, Dr. Zalmay Khalilzad, called on IEA-Foreign Minister, Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi.

The meeting focused on the current situation in Afghanistan and the opportunities existing in various domains. The issues between Afghanistan and the United States were also discussed, which can play a role in developing relations between the two countries.

FM Muttaqi highlighted the practical progress made in Afghanistan in the areas of stability, security, economic growth and self-reliance, noting that Afghanistan currently enjoys a conducive environment for investment.

Calling the security and stability in Afghanistan, as well as the progress made in reconstruction, commendable, Dr. Zalmay Khalilzad expressed hope that Afghanistan would make further progress in prosperity, economic growth and self-reliance. He also shared his views regarding the development of relations and constructive engagement between Afghanistan and the United States.
