IEA-Foreign Minister, Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi held a telecon with the Minister of State of Qatar, Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Khulaifi.The two sides exchanged views on recent regional developments, the continued aggression by Pakistan against Afghanistan, & the situation in the Middle East.
Expressing concern over the recent developments in the region, FM Muttaqi noted that, in addition to Pakistan’s aggression against Afghanistan, the attacks by the United States & Israel against Iran, as well as the expansion of the conflict toward the Gulf countries, are condemnable & should be halted.
Additionally, FM Muttaqi reiterated that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan considers respect for the national sovereignty, national security, & territorial integrity of states as a core principle, & regards diplomacy as the preferred trajectory for resolving issues rather than escalating violence.
Qatari State Minister stated that the region is passing through a difficult phase, adding that ballistic missile & drone attacks were launched by Iran toward Qatar, most of which were intercepted.
Mr. Al-Khulaifi noted that Qatar is a home for peace & has consistently emphasized the peaceful resolution of conflicts around the world.To end, the two sides insisted on the importance of diplomacy, resolving issues through dialogue, & continuing mutual contacts & exchanges of views between the two sides.
