Consular Services

The Directorate of Consular Affairs is one of the most important and active Directorate within the structure of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan. One of its core duties are the protection and defense of the interests and rights of Afghan citizens.
It operates in accordance with Islamic rulings, the decrees and directives of Amir al-Mu’minin (may Allah protect him), the directives of the Prime Minister, applicable laws and international conventions, particularly the Vienna Convention of 1963 concerning consular relations. The Directorate of Consular Affairs provides standard services and executes all its duties through five Deputies: The Deputy of Legal, Criminal and Prisoner Affairs; the Deputy of Immigration, Refugees, Citizenship, Identity Verification and Afghans Diaspora; the Deputy of Foreigners Visas; the Deputy of Passport; and the deputy of attestations.
