The Strategic Studies Center of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan to Host a Regional Meeting of Research Centers from Afghanistan, Central Asia, and Azerbaijan
Kabul – 16 June 2026

The Strategic Studies Center of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan is scheduled to host a high-level meeting of leading research centers from Afghanistan, Central Asia, and Azerbaijan in Kabul on 16 June 2026.
The meeting will bring together heads of strategic studies centers, researchers, and policy experts from Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Azerbaijan. These institutions operate under the auspices of the respective presidential administrations of their countries.

The meeting is being held at a time when engagement between Afghanistan and the countries of the region continues to develop. Participants will discuss key issues, including regional connectivity, stability, trade, energy, transit, investment, and economic cooperation. They will also review the current state of cooperation between Afghanistan and Central Asia and focus on presenting pragmatic recommendations.

A key feature of the meeting is that research institutions from the participating countries will directly exchange perspectives on shared challenges and opportunities, contributing to greater understanding and coordination.
The meeting is scheduled to be officially inaugurated by IEA-Foreign Minister, Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi.

The meeting is expected to reflect Afghanistan’s balanced and economy-centric foreign policy and contribute to strengthening mutual trust, expanding economic and transit cooperation, and promoting sustainable stability and shared prosperity among Afghanistan, Central Asia, and Azerbaijan.
This forum conveys the message that Afghanistan continues to be an important and active partner in advancing regional connectivity, cooperation, and economic development.
