In contemporary history, Afghanistan stands as a nation that, through the sacred duty of jihad in the path of Allah almighty, has successfully secured its independence from three major colonial powers within a century.
With the unwavering support of its courageous people, Afghanistan has reclaimed its sovereignty multiple times. Therefore, In recognition of these milestones, the following three days are observed as national holidays to celebrate the country's independence:
• August 19, 1919
Marking Afghanistan’s independence from British colonial rule and the establishment of the modern, independent Afghan state.
• February 15, 1989
Marking Afghanistan’s independence from Soviet Union occupation and the establishment of the Islamic State.
• August 15, 2021
Marking the end of USA and Western occupation, gaining independence under the leadership of the Islamic Emirate and the establishment of an Islamic governance system.
