The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, Mr. Wang Yi, in Beijing.
The meeting focused on enhancing bilateral relations and economic cooperation.
Describing China as one of Afghanistan’s key economic partners, FM Muttaqi expressed hope that the trade volume between the two countries would increase substantially in the near future. He also highlighted the need to find comprehensive solutions to the challenges faced by Afghan traders, particularly in the export of agricultural and other goods.
To further deepen economic cooperation, FM Muttaqi presented practical proposals related to transport cooperation, banking relations, and balancing trade. He also called for the establishment of joint intergovernmental commissions to facilitate expanded economic engagement and technical discussions between the two countries.
FM Muttaqi reaffirmed Afghanistan’s commitment that its territory would never be used against neighboring countries.
Reaffirming China’s continued political and economic support for Afghanistan, Mr. Wang Yi pledged efforts to remove existing barriers to the import of Afghan agricultural and other products. He emphasized that, as a good neighbor, China would extend full cooperation in supporting Afghanistan’s economic development.
