The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan expresses its profound sorrow over the incident that occurred on the evening of 13 August 2026, resulting in the death of a woman in Dashtak village, Darwaz District, Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region of the Republic of Tajikistan, following gunfire by disruptive & opportunistic elements from the border area between Afghanistan & Tajikistan. IEA-MoFA extends its deepest condolences to the bereaved family & the people of the neighbouring Republic of Tajikistan.
Recently, reports have emerged indicating that certain disruptive & opportunistic elements are seeking to create disorder in some areas of Badakhshan Province of Afghanistan, with the aim of adversely affecting the security & stability of the region, particularly the atmosphere of trust between the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan & the Republic of Tajikistan.
The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan reaffirms its commitment to security, stability, the principles of good-neighbourliness, and respect for the sovereignty & territorial integrity of states, and will not allow anyone to use Afghan territory to create disorder or undermine security.
