The meeting focused on ways to further strengthen bilateral relations between Afghanistan & China, as well as recent regional security developments, particularly regarding the violation of Afghanistan’s sovereignty by Pakistan.
Underscoring Afghanistan’s balanced & economic-centric foreign policy, FM Muttaqi reaffirmed that Afghanistan seeks relations grounded on the principles of mutual respect, non-interference, & good neighborliness. He further emphasized that respect for Afghanistan’s sovereignty & territorial integrity remains essential for regional stability & confidence-building, noting that actions inconsistent with these principles may have broader implications for regional security.
The P.R.C. Ambassador expressed concern regarding the current regional situation & underscored that China views regional stability as being in the shared interest of all countries. He also expressed hope that differences would be addressed through dialogue & diplomatic channels, noting that certain external actors are attempting to undermine regional stability & development. However, he stated that regional countries can neutralize such negative effects through coordination & cooperation.
