The Newly appointed UNDP Representative for Afghanistan, Mr. Torhan Saleh called on IEA-Foreign Minister, Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi.
The two sides focused on the UNDP’s development activities in Afghanistan, the reintegration of returnees, cooperation in the health and agriculture sectors, alternative livelihoods to counter narcotics, environmental protection, climate change, and disaster response.
FM Muttaqi stressed the importance of implementing development and infrastructure projects alongside humanitarian assistance, adding that the Islamic Emirate remains committed to continuing its cooperation with the United Nations in these domains.
Mr. Torhan Saleh reaffirmed the UNDP’s commitment to aligning its programmes with Afghanistan’s national priorities. He said that the organization would continue supporting development projects and capacity-building initiatives based on the needs of the Afghan people.
