The Iranian Ambassador and Special Representative for Afghanistan, leading a delegation, paid a call on Deputy Minister for Political Affairs, Al-Haj Sher Muhammad Abbas Stanekzai.
The discussions covered a range of bilateral political and economic domains, focusing particularly on enhancing trade and transit cooperation between the two neighbours alongside other strategic issues.
Appreciating Iran’s continued support for Afghan refugees and highlighting the challenges Afghan businessmen and refugees face in Iran, Mr. Stanekzai underscored the development in political, economic, trade, and transit sectors between Afghanistan and Iran over the past three years, calling the mutual visits between delegations as indicative of the enhanced bilateral relations.
Voicing satisfaction with the progress made in political, economic, trade and transit cooperation in the last 3 years, the Iranian delegation highlighted the successful resolution of Iran’s water rights from the Helmand River, reiterating to further streamline bilateral cooperation through coordinated efforts and mutual understanding in order to provide more facilitation thereon in the near future.
Moreover, the two sides held in-depth deliberations on the ongoing crisis in the Middle East, expressing concern over the unremitting aggressions of the Zionist regime and the lack of response from international community, particularly from Islamic nations, to the deteriorated situation.
