The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan summoned the Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of Pakistan in Kabul and conveyed a strong and unequivocal protest over the violation of Afghanistan’s airspace and the airstrikes carried out by the Pakistani military against several provinces of Afghanistan. A formal note of protest was also handed over to him.
Last night, the Pakistani military carried out airstrikes on the provinces of Kandahar, Paktia and Khost, resulting in casualties among civilians.
The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan strongly condemns these attacks and considers them a blatant violation of Afghanistan’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and contrary to Islamic, international, humanitarian and good-neighbourly principles.
The Islamic Emirate categorically rejects the baseless allegations that Afghan territory is being cited as the source of Pakistan’s recent security incidents. It stresses that using such allegations to justify military action amounts an attempt to distort facts, mislead public opinion and conceal its own internal failures.
The Islamic Emirate further states that the military regime of Pakistan is seeking to portray itself as engaged in such actions in order to evade the implementation of its commitments made with regional countries, thereby, which contributes to a further deterioration of the situation and an escalation of tensions.
