The meeting focused on emergency assistance for returnees & individuals stricken by natural disasters, their basic humanitarian needs, & cooperation in the health sector.
Highlighting the Islamic Emirate’s attention to the management of returning migrants & FM Muttaqi noted that all available resources have been mobilized to support this process, & expressing appreciation for the assistance provided by the IFRC to disaster-affected populations & returnees, & commending Afghan Red Crescent Society for its role in facilitating the timely delivery of aid.
Mr. Mathieu shared an overview of the Federation’s humanitarian assistance in Afghanistan over the past year. He noted that despite a decline in international humanitarian support, he aims to gather relevant information during his visit to Afghanistan & continue engagement with concerned stakeholders to help address existing humanitarian gaps.
In the end, Mr. Mathieu called cooperation with the relevant authorities of the Islamic Emirate, particularly the Afghan Red Crescent Society, effective & expressed hope for further progress.
