On the sidelines of the third meeting of the Trans-Himalaya Forum meeting, Foreign Minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi met with the Foreign Minister of the People’s Republic of China Wang Yi in Tibet

In this meeting, the two sides held discussions in regard with bilateral relations between the two countries, raising the level of diplomatic relations, and opening new trade corridors including other regional issues.

Foreign Ministers of the both countries called the mechanism of the Joint Meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Afghanistan-China-Pakistan useful, and expressed hope that such meetings be continued in the future too.

FM Muttaqi considered the introduction of the official ambassador of China to Afghanistan as a gesture of positive progress in bilateral relations between the two countries.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of China said that diplomatic relations with Afghanistan are not based on the influence any other country, and China will reaffirm its resolve continue its traditional fraternity with Afghanistan. Mr. Wang Yi also expressed willingness to cooperate with the Afghan government in improving governance and capacity building.
