The two sides held comprehensive & constructive discussions aimed at further strengthening political relations, enhancing economic cooperation, promoting people-to-people engagement, & exchanging views on key regional developments.
FM Muttaqi expressed appreciation to Dr. Jaishankar for the invitation, describing the visit as a significant & historic step forward in the trajectory of bilateral relations between Afghanistan & India. He noted that India occupies an important position in the region & emphasized that the two nations share not only diplomatic ties but also enduring historical, civilizational, & cultural bonds that span centuries.
Highlighting the importance of cooperation in combating narcotics, advancing regional economic initiatives, & developing transport corridors, FM Muttaqi stated that Afghanistan now offers abundant investment opportunities. He encouraged Indian investors to participate in sectors such as agriculture, healthcare, mining, energy, transport, & other sectors.
FM Muttaqi also expressed hope that the situation of Afghan prisoners in India would be addressed, enabling their return to Afghanistan, & further called for facilitation in visa issuance & the reopening of the Wagah border.
Minister of External Affairs Dr. Jaishankar commended the Islamic Emirate’s efforts in maintaining security, countering drug trafficking, & ensuring internal stability. He stressed to further strengthen bilateral cooperation.
Dr. Jaishankar announced to elevate its diplomatic representation in Kabul from a technical mission to an embassy level, & confirmed the formal accreditation of the Islamic Emirate’s diplomats in New Delhi.
He also conveyed condolences over the recent earthquakes in Nangarhar & Kunar provinces, & reiterated India’s steadfast commitment to ongoing humanitarian assistance for the Afghan people. Dr. Jaishankar further assured support in addressing the concerns of Afghan prisoners & facilitating visa procedures.
Both sides welcomed the activation of the Afghanistan–India air corridor & agreed to further expand it. They also decided to establish a joint trade committee to enhance bilateral trade & investment cooperation.
It was further agreed that India would deepen its engagement in Afghanistan’s development efforts, particularly in the areas of healthcare, energy, infrastructure, & humanitarian support.
In the end, both sides underscored on the importance of promoting peace, stability, & mutual confidence in the region.
