Today, 6th March, 2023, 268 Afghan Nationals, who were imprisoned in Iran, were released and handed over to the Afghan government as a result of the negotiations and agreement between the two countries.

A number of officials of IEA including the Afghan Ambassador in Tehran Mawlawi Fazal Muhammad Haqqani, the Director General of Prisons, Mawlawi Yousuf Mistari and the MoFA Director of Herat, Mawlawi Shir Ahmad Ammar participated in the ceremony.

The agreement was made a few days ago in Tehran by a high level delegation headed by the Attorney General of Afghanistan.

Such positive measures will further deepen and strengthen bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries.

IEA-MoFA appreciates this positive action of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
