Today, a delegation of the United States of America, led by Mr. Adam Boehler, the Special Presidential Envoy for Hostage Affairs, called on the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi.
FM Muttaqi stated that the American national, Amir Amiri, had been released earlier today, demonstrating that the Government of Afghanistan does not view issues concerning foreign nationals from a political perspective, & reiterated that diplomacy provides pathways for resolving such matters.
He further noted that the release of the American national represented a positive step forward, & expressed gratitude to the State of Qatar for its effective role in facilitating prisoner releases between IEA & U.S.A .Later, Mr. Adam Boehler welcomed the Islamic Emirate’s decision to release the American national, calling it a good moment. He also described the previous round of discussions between the Islamic Emirate & the United States as constructive, & expressed hope that dialogue would continue on the remaining issues.
