The meeting focused on enhancing bilateral engagement, addressing the challenges faced by forcibly returned Afghan refugees, & a range of other issues.Dr. Mohammad Naeem reaffirmed the Islamic Emirate’s commitment to supporting all organizations whose activities serve the welfare of the Afghan people.
Also, he called upon the United Nations to take practical & coordinated steps with the Afghan authorities to ensure the provision of essential assistance to the forcibly returned refugees.He further emphasized that the treatment of Afghan refugees during their forced return from Pakistan stands in contradiction to humanitarian principles, Islamic values, and the norms of good neighborly relations, urging the international community to raise voice.
Commending the improvement of overall security in Afghanistan & the expansion of services to remote areas, Mr. Ratwatte noted that while financial resources have become more limited, the United Nations remains committed to continued cooperation with the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in supporting the Afghan people & addressing the needs of returnees.
