IEA-Foreign Minister, Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, held a telecon with the Minister of State of Qatar, Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Khulaifi, and held discussions on regional issues, particularly the recent situation between Afghanistan and Pakistan.
During the call, underscoring the principled position of the Islamic Emirate regarding recent developments, FM Muttaqi stated that the recent actions of Afghanistan’s security and defense forces were carried out to safeguard the country’s sovereignty, airspace, and territorial integrity, and that the intended objectives were successfully achieved.Additionally he said that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has, from the outset, not supported violence and has consistently preferred resolving issues through understanding and mutual respect; however, this will be effective only if the other side demonstrates a practical and sincere willingness for a solution.
Mr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Khulaifi stated that Qatar seeks a reduction in tensions and expressed that it stands alongside brotherly countries and is ready to play a positive role when the opportunity arises.The Qatari Minister of State stressed the importance of a fundamental resolution of issues and added that efforts are being coordinated with relevant countries toward this end.To end, both sides emphasized the importance of maintaining ongoing contact.
