Uzbek DFM Calls on Foreign Minister

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Mr. Babur Usmanov called on Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the first session of the Afghanistan–Central Asia Consultative Dialogue.

Both sides discussed ways and opportunities to further strengthen relations between the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan, and exchanged views on the regional situation.
Expressing gratitude to the high-level delegation of Uzbekistan for their participation in the previous day’s meeting, FM Muttaqi emphasized that, in light of the ideas and proposals presented during the consultative dialogue between Afghanistan and Central Asia, both sides should work jointly on the next steps.

Describing the progress in Afghanistan–Uzbekistan relations as positive, FM Muttaqi stressed the importance of further enhancing coordination.
Mr. Babur Usmanov, while expressing support and appreciation for the establishment of this regional initiative, also provided details on recent developments in relations between Kabul and Tashkent and emphasized the continuation of expanded cooperation.
