The two counterparts focused on enhanced bilateral relations between Afghanistan & China, as well as the evolving regional security environment & the implications of recent regional developments.
Underscoring the Islamic Emirate’s economic centric foreign policy, FM Muttaqi reaffirmed Afghanistan’s commitment to strengthening relations with neighboring countries & regional partners in grained with mutual respect, trust & expanded economic cooperation, adding further, alluding to recent security developments in the region, FM Muttaqi stressed that the Islamic Emirate deems dialogue & diplomacy as the only means for resolving any kind of tensions.
FM Muttaqi shared the Islamic Emirate’s perspective regarding recent aggression on Afghanistan’s national sovereignty by Pakistan, noting that Afghanistan reserves the legitimate right to defend its people & territorial integrity, while at the same time supporting diplomatic engagement to prevent further escalation.
FM Muttaqi said that bombardments & missile strikes by pakistan target civilians, particularly women & children, & damage civilian infrastructure, citing the incidents in Kabul & Kandahar as examples.
Later, FM Wang Yi emphasized the importance of further strengthening constructive relations between Afghanistan & China, underscoring that political dialogue & cooperative mechanisms are essential for maintaining regional peace & stability. Welcoming Afghanistan’s dialogue-focused position, he stated that attacks targeting civilians & civilian facilities are unacceptable.
Regarding the situation between Afghanistan & Pakistan, FM Wang Yi noted that military actions cannot provide a sustainable solution & may contribute to further escalation, adding, China stands ready to play a constructive role in promoting understanding, dialogue & confidence between the two sides.
